This started as a box of negatives that nobody could look at, and turned into a long evening habit.
Equipment
A flatbed scanner with a transparency unit, which is slow but handles both 35mm strips and medium format without buying a second machine. Colour negatives are inverted by hand rather than by the scanner software — the automatic results were consistently too warm.
Why it is online
Sending a drive by post takes two weeks and the drive usually comes back broken. A small server costs less than the postage did and lets everyone look at the same version. There is no gallery software here on purpose: files are served as plain directories, which will still work in ten years when whatever gallery I chose today has stopped being maintained.
Privacy
Nothing here is indexed, there are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no third-party resources of any kind. The full-resolution originals are not published — they stay on a disk at home. Anyone who appears in a photograph and would rather not can ask, and the frame comes down.
